@coach_bridgetb: Notice that the fight is never really about the time. He doesn't rearrange his life for that weekend. Half the time they're at his mother's by Saturday morning. The weekend was never the prize. The prize is you at the front door at six, peeling her fingers off your sleeve, telling her she has to go, being the one she looks at while she's scared. He gets to be somewhere else while you do the worst part of it. That's what post-separation abuse looks like when it's working. It doesn't need him in the room. It just needs a court order and you doing what the order says. And here's the part that keeps women up at night. You can't stop it, and you also can't let her watch you come apart, so you hold it together in the driveway and then sit in the car. I'm not going to tell you that gets easier.
