I can understand wanting space and privacy for the first week to couple of weeks, but three months is ridiculous!!

Sounds like a spiteful, and miserable take. Couldn’t be me. It’s only 3 months, I’d be excited they’re finally ready to come out of their shell. I’ll be ready and waiting for my grandma time happily because the village will always be a knock away . the newborn and postpartum stage effects us all differently, that’s not my baby, and not my place to overstep . Then again, I have mostly daughters, I have more respect for their boundaries and parenting decisions than my ego as a mother/grandmother. I’d apply that same respect to my daughter in law as I would my own daughters. Mom/grandma will be here when you need me my loves. 🥰

Why is it so normalized for mother-in-law’s to feel that they deserve anything from their kids/in-laws?

I agree with grandma here. a couple of weeks to settle in is fine but 3 months is rubbish.

initially you are right, but instead of shutting them down…. go meet your grandbaby and wait til your daughter in law admits she was wrong. It always happens.

I can agree with not wanting friends or other people but immediet family members like grandparent is too much for me.

I see nothing wrong with wanting privacy. And I see nothing wrong with saying no to babysitting.
what is wrong in my eyes is ML sounds revengeful & condescending. "sweetheart" in that tone.. 😬

I would feel as you do, but I couldn’t act as you do. If mum needs a break it’s in babies best interest she gets one. Also, it’s my grandchild! Of course if anyone was going to see/spend time with baby id want it to be me!

mother in law is right but the sad thing is .. That poor baby misses out on the love of extended family now.

Omg, you are a monster in law. Maybe she was an anxious first time parent and just needed space to adjust to this new chapter. Showing your true colours grandma...they are better off without you!
