The amputation was done to save her life. A blood clot in an artery is a medical emergency and requires immediate intervention to prevent tissue death. Amputation is a last resort as a life-saving measure when irreversible tissue death has occurred and all attempts to restore blood flow have failed. If you are not in the medical field you will not understand . Jamaica need to get upto date and start prescribing low dose aspirin 81 mg to be taken daily during pregnancy. The first couple of weeks after giving birth is the highest for developing maternal blood clots. The reason the Nurses told her she’s the first one to give birth and lose her leg is because the condition she was diagnosed with is a life-threatening condition that is very rare not too many people in the world developed this condition. Therefore, the doctors actually did what they had to save her life. if they didn’t do what they did, it could affect multiple organs in her body and eventually she would die. Maybe what the doctors should’ve done was explained to her in layman terms what was happening to her and then maybe she would understand more. But before everyone say Jamaican hospital is a mess, yes we know they are, but in this situation they did what they had to do to save her life.
