One of the reasons I’m building in African agriculture has nothing to do with Africa. Look at what’s happening around the world. Farmers are getting older. Fewer young people are choosing agriculture. In countries like the UK, farming is becoming increasingly difficult. Rising costs, labour pressures, succession challenges and fewer people wanting to take over family farms. At the same time, some of the world’s biggest investors and institutions have been acquiring farmland. Why? Because regardless of what happens with technology or financial markets… 8 billion+ people still need to eat. Food isn’t optional. Land capable of producing food isn’t unlimited. And the people actually producing that food are getting older. Then look at Africa. A young population. Huge agricultural potential. Growing domestic food demand. Rapid urbanisation. And enormous gaps in processing, storage, logistics and distribution. That combination is what caught my attention. I don’t just see farming. I see infrastructure. I see processing. I see supply chains. I see food security. I see businesses that will still be needed 20, 30, 50 years from now. That’s why I’m spending so much time learning, building relationships and putting my own money into agriculture. Not because farming is easy. It absolutely isn’t. But because the deeper I go into this industry, the more convinced I become that whoever helps solve how Africa feeds itself, and eventually more of the world, will be building in one of the most important industries of our lifetime. 🌍🌱 Africa should own more of that future.
