Totally disagree with the whole neighbor thing. Because once they know you. Then they will take from you. Keep to yourself. Don’t give out any info about yourself or what you have. It’s your neighbors fault for not being prepared, not yours.

If it’s winter I will be helping my neighbors, one of them is 96, and on the other side one is 80 and the 2 that live next to her are in their mid 80’s. I’ll definitely be checking on them.

We just had a Black out in Northwest Indiana. Think 2 or 3 tornados and something else I forgot what it was called. We lost power on Aug 11th. I didn't get my power back until Aug 28th. The weather head ripped off the house. A massive Maple tree uprooted in the back yard onto the power lines and my fence. Internet equipment outside is ripped apart. Fixed income, no generator. Everything was cash. Gas stations had lines. I have been here 25 years and I've seen so many people I've never seen before over here. Some people still don't have power. We were responsible for paying for a new weather head if it broke.

my son did an experiment in like 4th grade using cardboard, aluminum foil and duct tape and put that in sun facing windows and it heated the whole room. I need to pull those specs out.

I bought a whole house generator, they recommended a 14kw, I bought a 22 Kw. Works so good, I bought a 14 Kw for the rental, so she has protection too. You don’t have to worry about your freezers or fridge if you have a whole house generator that runs on natural gas. Both generators cost only $8k apiece, well worth the money. A very worthwhile investment because you have power for everything and your food is safe. Why go through all of this. Screw the neighbors, when power goes out, I turn on all lights and blast the high power stereo. After a couple of days, everyone went to a hotel because they were unprepared. Your call….
