Am I wrong in thinking the judge has handled this poorly in the end. If a juror is behaving like that they need to be dealt with. It seems ridiculous.

I'm genuinely curious though, do the jurors just think he isn't following the law or is he truly not? Because the law doesn't mean no doubt, it doesn't require absolute certainty...just no speculation or hypotheticals. If his reasoning is grounded in evidence, then it stands.

Insanity is intangible and impossible to prove especially when it takes the form of a singular brief psychotic break. The bar should be higher in such cases to provide evidence for that state of mind.
