@napcueapp: I moved my baby from our bed to the crib in 14 nights. Night 1 was the hardest. Night 14 she went down without a sound. Here is the exact method. ⠀ 1️⃣ The bed-to-crib transition works best when it is gradual and when the crib environment is made to feel as similar to the co-sleeping environment as possible before the transition. For the first 3 nights: put the crib mattress on the floor next to your bed, with your hand resting on the baby through the crib bars. The crib is physically adjacent. You are present. The baby is in the new space. ⠀ 2️⃣ Nights 4 to 7: crib still on the floor, but your hand is only resting on the baby until they are in quiet sleep. Then remove your hand. This teaches the body that you can be present without contact, and that the absence of contact does not mean the absence of safety. ⠀ 3️⃣ Nights 8 to 11: raise the crib mattress to its standard position. Your presence in the room remains. Hand on the baby until the transfer is settled, then sit in the chair. You are in the room but not at the crib. The baby is settling in the crib with you as a background presence. ⠀ 4️⃣ Nights 12 to 14: begin stepping out of the room after the baby is settled. Night 12, leave at 5 minutes after quiet sleep. Night 13, leave at 3 minutes. Night 14, leave when drowsy-but-awake and settling. By night 14, the crib is the sleep location and your presence is the routine, not the sleep association. ⠀ This is the exact reason I started using an app called Napcue.
