I just did my very first cold plunge! I honestly didn't plan on getting in the freezing water 🧊✨. I was happy enjoying a luxury Nordic spa retreat @shaleridgeestatewinery (love organizing Creator Collab Retreats 🤗), rotating through my contrast therapy - heated thermal infinity pool, the sauna, steam room) . I didn't think I had it in me to brave the freezing water. But after seeing the @glamfriends.to attempting cold plunge, I thought I'd give it a try too! -- ⏱️ Day 1: 28 secs ⏱️ Day 2 : 1 min, 2 secs , then 4 mins How did I go from 28s to 4 mins in 24 hours? Partly bc didn't have a watch on me 🤭. My phone was already recording on the tripod & I refused to get out to check the time. Before I stepped in: I had a mental rehearsal. I pictured myself getting in calmly, my breathing regulated, and zero shivering. Reflecting on my experience - because I visualized staying calm, & also w/o a timer forced me into a state of deep mental resilience 😌. It’s not that I couldn’t feel the freezing water - I absolutely could 😆. But I decided NOT to give it my focus. I pictured myself being elsewhere (somatic visualization). I let the cold exist around me, BUT I gave my brain a different assignment. I've heard mindset coaches talk about this exact phenomenon. Your thoughts shapes how you react! 🧠 He calls this

Your thoughts shapes how you react! 🧠 He calls this "stress inoculation," which is training your brain to stay calm under intense pressure. 🧠 Dr. Andrew Huberman calls it "top-down control," using your logical brain to override your body's survival signals. 🧠 David Goggins calls it "callousing the mind." Whatever YOU call it, it's a VERY real superpower.
