After the judge declined Kevin Reddington’s request to further investigate or remove an alleged holdout juror, the jury returned another note saying “with a heavy heart” that it could not reach a unanimous decision. Judge William Sullivan decided to declare a mistrial. But just before the jury returned to the courtroom, Reddington requested time to seek emergency appellate relief.
