Thank you for pointing this out. As a dancewear maker myself, I’ve been reevaluating and changing how I market my brand. It’s so difficult but it’s clear as day that there is predatory behavior online and these children’s safety should be a #1 priority.

How would you compare the use of images to market youth dancewear with the sharing and highlighting of dancers images on equally huge if not bigger platforms such as their own or dance competition’s social media? I really wish that competitions paid more attention to the types of images they share from the stage (although really it could be any type of image these days) knowing that anyone can take them from there.

It has been happening for so long. YPAD has been having these conversations with law enforcement since 2014. Unfortunately people still think this is their way for their child to be recognized and create a portfolio and even when they are explained how dangerous it is they still do it because they are “managing” their account.
