I hate hiw they frame it as “over a parking spot.” He had her trapped with his car and was refusing to stop trying to come at her. He was warned several times as he followed her around the car.

Everyone in the comments clearly didn’t see this when it originally happened. This man argued with her and continued to follow and approach her around the parking lot so yes she was in the verge of being attacked if she didn’t pull her gun… therefore self defense

“reasonably believe that deadly force is immediately necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm” is when it’s okay to shoot someone in self defense but she got out of her vehicle where it was safe and had enough time to sit her gun down and continue arguing before picking it back up and shooting him. This is not self defense this is murder.

She took the spot he wanted. He then proceeded to park two lanes over go back over to the lady, and follow her around the parking lot. She kept warning him to leave her alone as she was with her niece. He didn’t, and she warned as he followed her around a whole other car that wasn’t hers. She technically had every right. In the moment she didn’t shoot over property since she had left her car trying to get herself away from the man. While the man proceeded to follow her making himself a threat to her. So under Cpl laws.. she had ever right. First thing she did right was warning.. for those who want to argue before hearing the whole story

It should read FL woman protecting herself from a charging man won’t face charges. He was told to stand down,she’s armed he continued to advance. Thats a stand your ground state. She stood her ground. If she was white, this would not have been a headline.

I’m glad it was caught on camera that she gave several warnings and he still charged at her. A police officer in the same situation would have shot at that man sooner than she did and everyone would have stated it was justified.

Stand your ground requires self defense and to qualify for self defense one must be at a reasonable fear for one’s life, she had the weapon, he had no weapon, she was not at a reasonable fear for her life. Furthermore, self defense requires an equal amount of force, you cannot kill someone if your life isn’t also being threatened. To qualify for stand your ground defense, you must qualify for self defense in the first place, which she by legal definition does not. This was neither self defense nor was it standing her ground, it was an execution.
