This is total BS. Even the techs at Mercedes only torque them to 23nm. the whole "index sparkplugs" thing is so Mercedes has a way out to not warranty if the engine blows. Hell even Mercedes Benz branded/approved spark plugs don't index properly.

Always a reason to void warranty. I bet the plugs came out the factory indexed wrong causing scoring. Then MB said change your plugs earlier since it’s direct injection. So they can say ahhh wrong void this out. All a scheme to make money. Like their old transmission fluid ruined torque converter with lifetime life. Or the famous SBC brakes! Rusted subframes list goes on and on

Do not buy merc 25$ spark plugs x8. Buy the bosch version and sand the washer and it will work. Also indexing is a lie they came up with trying to hide the fact they blow up lol. My factory installed plugs were not indexed towards the injector nor were they all the same way

there 2 injection cycles stratified and homogeneous correct spark plug torque is important as the electrode needs to be in the correct position mercedes diagnostic tech of 38 years here

Most of them don't end up with the flame front of the plug point towards the injector. I feels it's a plausible deniability for manufacturers defect on the heads in terms of failures to void warranty.

That is absurd; in a volume of fuel-laden air, the spark plug gap doesn't really matter—the spark occurs in a compressed atmosphere, so ignition will happen automatically.

I own a cls 63 amg m157, I changed all 8 spark plugs in 2 hrs my self, no index, the car runs perfect, but I guess it helps, but is not 8 hrs job 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
