@hiddenstrengthuk: Yes, we're a UK service but being based remotely in Wales and knowing how many members of the Trans Community rely on our support services, we cannot ignore the devastating impacts of the sudden decision to pause all gender affirming surgeries supported by the Welsh Gender Service (the only clinic in Wales supporting trans+ healthcare). There is ample research which highlights how transgender people in the UK are disproportionately affected by mental health difficulties, including suicide ideation in comparison to the general population. There is also research that illustrates how gender affirming surgery significantly improves overall quality of life. We have joined many in calling upon answers, clarity and guidance so those affected can get the support and reassurance they deserve. We've said it before and we'll keep saying it again and again: Trans lives matter.
