Personally, I feel we should consider removing the golak from the Gurdwara and moving towards donations being made electronically via a QR code linked directly to a bank account registered in the Gurdwara’s name. This would make the process much more transparent and allow the Sangat to have clear visibility of the donations and how they are being managed. I would also respectfully suggest that individual donations and donors’ names are not announced or listed during the Ardas. I don’t believe this was what our gurus suggested, or would have suggested, and I feel the Ardas should remain focused on the prayer rather than highlighting individual contributions. If we want to acknowledge donations, perhaps we could have a clearly visible board/billboard at the Gurdwara showing the names of donors and the amounts donated, outside of the Ardas. That would still provide recognition and transparency while keeping the Ardas separate from individual donations. I think this would create a much more open, accountable and respectful system for everyone in the Sangat.
