Behind it rises the DC Court of Appeals Historic Courthouse, at 430 E Street NW. Originally designed in 1820 as Washington’s first City Hall, the neoclassical building is now a National Historic Landmark and one of the District’s oldest public buildings. After an extensive restoration, it was rededicated in 2009 as the home of the District’s highest local court. ✨ Fun Fact: Long before it became the home of the D.C. Court of Appeals, this building served as Washington’s City Hall.
