I got a comment to this effect on my video as well. I will also do a video response because yeah, no. Autism is no excuse for racism.

It's the infantalisation of white women through autism type crap. God forbid we get held accountable and acknowledged that we can actually be terrible people.

I think something else that’s important to consider is it seems that while this may have started as possibly unconscious or implicit bias or a lack of awareness, it has moved into a conscious choice and thinking at this point.

I can’t believe what this has spiraled into. Your anger is valid. You tried kindness and gentle nudging and it turned into THIS.

I’m sorry you’re continuing to deal with all of this, especially when you were trying to take time away for your own peace.

As a yt audhd person, it's ablest & infantizing. I have internalized racism that I learned from my family growing up, things I thought were okay to do & say. I have also spent most of my adult years unlearning those things. 🙃🫠 Using nuerodivergence as a shield as a yt person is disgusting & harmful too.

Unfortunately they take being a hardcore Nesta Stan very seriously. They think people should just excuse their bad behavior because they’re being “understood.”

“Autistic people cannot be racist.” …so just anything but listening to the person/people offended? Any excuse instead of learning from the situation and trying to do better… (I haven’t been able to see much from this situation but your videos along with some others have been rlly informative. I’m sorry this has happened but thank you for speaking and bringing attention to it)

Autism is not an excuse for bad behavior. It's frustrating to see. Being corrected is not an attack, it's what you do once corrected that speaks volumes more. I've blocked people for far less than this. I'm so sorry you and others are getting flack for stating a fact on the situation.

As a white AuDHD person, I really hate seeing autism or any other diagnosis used as a shield from accountability. Autism can explain how someone communicates, processes information, or misunderstands a situation, but it does not mean we are incapable of recognizing harm, apologizing, learning, and doing better. Autistic people can absolutely hold racist beliefs or behave terribly. Treating neurodivergence as though we cannot be held accountable is infantilizing, not supportive. And honestly, I think there was a problem before any of this even happened. If you are having a discussion about an Afrofuturist book, having a table made up entirely of white women with no Black voices represented should have prompted some reflection from the beginning. Especially when the criticism then centers African names being “too African,” difficult to pronounce, or supposedly less marketable to Americans. Thank you for speaking about what happened and continuing to advocate for yourself. You deserved to be heard without someone using neurodivergence to dismiss the impact of what was said.

I was stuned how many people in coments under her "apologize video" write things like "What did YOU expected when you show up your book to a white woman" Like, Im sorry? Like you can't expect basic desency from a grown white women? Bcs those women are white is okay to critize black culture? Black autors should show their work only to black editor to recive objective opinion? I truly didn't understand what those people think is okay on anything she said. And Im sorry you have to deal with that❤️

if she's aware that her autism causes her to behave in an antisocial way, then she's also aware enough to correct that behavior.

Can’t believe you're still dealing with this. Your anger is so justified and you don't owe anyone a softer version.. The lack of empathy and the way people are downplaying it is just alarming. It's so easy to call something a misunderstanding when you chose to look the other way and you're not the person it was aimed at. These kind of situations isn't small and it doesn't just go away. Information, kindness and compassion is free.. Also enjoying someone's videos only tells you what they choose to show you, not who they really are. I hope you get to step away and take some time for yourself soon 🥺🩷

Oh I know thats not true. My brother in law is autistic and is absolutely narcissistic. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder and NPD is a personality disorder. One is born with autism, but NPD was developed later as they was forming their personality. You can be both just like you can be neither.
