You guys are way too picky! Those people definitely came to see Alex Eala not just the match. You can clearly noticed: that once Alex Eala’s game is over, her fans head straight home too! As long as Alex is there, there’s nothing you can do about it, so you can just set aside your fancy tennis etiquette for now.

at the national bank open they had security at every staircase with a rope that stopped people from going to their seats until change over. i don’t understand why the us open doesn’t have the same system

Because it’s the us open, no one in the crowd cares about tennis, they just go for the attention, that’s why the us open is the worst slam out of the other 3

Things have changed. Sporting events are no longer for active, engaged fans. Most real fans don't even want to go anymore as ticket prices are getting ridiculous and the in-person experience gets ruined by the casual fan that shows up late, leaves their seat 45 times, and doesn't follow fan etiquette. US Open organizers want the casual fan, though, since they will spend the money on the overpriced concessions and post about the match on social media, mid-point.
