Why do people make these situations so much worse than they need to be? There is no need to act like a lawyer on the side of the road. If an officer asks you to step out of your vehicle, established case law requires you to comply. The time to fight a charge is in court, not on the street. When people refuse, they end up getting arrested for obstruction, resisting, and whatever else they were originally pulled over for—all for what? Whether the outcome was going to be a ticket or an arrest, escalating the situation on the street only makes it worse for yourself.
