The majority NEEDS to stop shopping on holidays. Let the stores be open but make absolutely NO SALES & then all of a sudden, it'll cost them too much to stay open for holidays. Retail DESERVES a break!!!

as an office worker who used to work retail, I truly don't understand why I get the day off while retail & food service workers don't. like those job fields are so draining &, while I appreciate a long weekend, I'd gladly give it up if it meant other industries actually got the day off. I also NEVER go out on holidays bc I don't want to contribute to the sales numbers that keep businesses open those days

seeing a lot of comments bragging about "ohh I love working holidays, I get that holiday pay!" meanwhile it seems pretty clear to me that op is specifically talking about the people who have no choice, who not only *don't* get holiday pay, but who will literally be penalized in some way if they miss work that day.

Working in grocery and every 3 day weekend/holiday it gets so insanely busy. Do we get paid extra for all of that extra work and profit? No. Only on Monday
