Honestly, there needs to be a secure facility with around 12 private, bedroom-style rooms near the courthouse where jurors can stay during major trials. Their phones and other devices should be secured while they’re serving, and they should have proper security and everything they need during their stay. In high-profile cases, jurors can be exposed to nonstop media coverage, social media, and outside opinions. Having a secure place for the jury to stay during the trial could help limit outside influence, protect the integrity of the case, and reduce the risk of a mistrial caused by improper exposure to information.
