When my skin was at its worst, I realised pretty quickly I needed to stop looking for quick solutions and layering products upon products and simply strip everything right back to basics. So I simplified my routine and took a break from some of the products I was using, including: • AHAs • BHAs • Vitamin C • Retinol • Fragrance, including naturally fragranced products Instead, I aimed to focus on gentle, fragrance-free skincare and gave my skin barrier time to settle and recover. And most of all BREATHE. I also started incorporating LED red light therapy and other supportive treatments into my routine while my skin was flaring, which became a really important part of my healing journey. It was also CRUCIAL for me to take a hard look at my diet and take away any inflammatory foods that were no longer serving me or my complexion. I'm not going to lie... It was HARD. Some days I felt like a stranger in my own skin and the vulnerability that came with that really rocked me. But with time and patience, I made it to the other side. One important caveat to note is that: everyone’s skin is different. And particularly with perioral dermatitis, different people can have different triggers, so there isn’t a one-size-fits-all routine. For me, learning when to simplify and listen to what my skin was telling me made all the difference. At the end of the day, your skin is your biggest communicator. Just remember healing reactive skin takes time. Be patient with your skin, keep things simple, and remember that sometimes it needs less, not more. Save this for when your skin needs a reset. #perioraldermatitistreatment #perioraldermatitis #perioraldermatitisskincare #skincareroutine #organicskincare
