My teeth need some serious work after having ulcers for the past couple years. No ulcers now, just had dental work and I now have air inside my cheek, jawline and a small bit down my neck.😳 I feel like my past with ulcers contributed to worstened oral health.

I have advanced sjogrens. Ulcers and destruction of your moisture glands in your eyes, mouth, and gi tract are what it destroys. Yes I’ve had horrible ones and that’s never happened. If you have a mouth rinse that doesn’t have alcohol I would use that to keep it clean and it won’t irritate it-Thera breath or ACT. It also helps with healing.

this isnt my situation but as someone with advanced tooth decay due to chronic vomiting i use special toothpaste with 25,000 ppm flouride in it (normal toothpaste caps out at 1500 ppm) this probably wont help with an ulcer but thought you/others should know it exists :)

I actually developed a rare disease from my ibd in my mouth as well oh and also my insurance doesn’t cover anything (including all the dentist appointments) because it is soo rare to the point where I am the eleventh diagnosed case in the world 😭

The answer is yes. It already happened to me. The tooth broke in half and then both halves just fell out. And the ulcer just keeps coming and going but never fully disappearing.

you're dentist can prescribe toothpaste to help prevent tooth decay and help your ph balance in your mouth. prevident 5000 is the name most use

When mine were really bad my dentist told me to mix salt, baking soda, and warm water to swish. It helps with the pain and promotes healing :)

I ended up having to have all my teeth pulled due to my Crohn’s and the medication I have been on over the years. I also haven’t had any luck with dentures so I M waiting to be able to afford implants

Yes I have not just you. Feels better knowing not just me. Not from ulcers though. Crohns sucks. Lost more than one tooth. Someday hopefully I can afford implant/grill or something to make smile better.☹️

i have crohns & anytime i bite anywhere inside my mouth it just becomes a straight ulcer but i haven’t had any lost teeth 😭 im so sorry dude

I just had 2 teeth pulled because of this. And I have ulcerative colitis. All of my teeth feel weak. I’m starting to save for veneers because this is such a huge problem. They have given me prescription toothpaste but it does nothing to prevent the ulcers.

Not IBD but I have a connective tissue disorder and they’re awful. Magic mouthwash is helpful for pain at least

I have 10 crowns in my mouth and broke my wisdom tooth from clenching my jaw so bad! My dentist said it’s 100% from my crohns 😬

I have been getting them on my gums and some of them right along my teeth. one has left a hole above tooth, but my dentist is monitoring them. says they look and feel worse than they are.

i get random gum swellings with my crohns. i get dental cleaning every two months to prevent and a topical steroid gel to use when i have a swelling. it's technically a gel for eczema, so it was prescribed "off label". probs not helpful for big ulcer, but maybe the start of new ones from now on?
