if you want hybrid, 100 percent go with Toyota, they were one of the first companies to embrace hybrid ever since the late 90s, they have it down to a tea and are very reliable, only downside is the hybrid batteries are expensive.

The misinformation about the environmental impact of batteries has been disproven so many times but it’s so pervasive. :/

hybrid engines are basically the pinnacle of internal combustion engine technology. You get better efficiency and performance. Plus, the hybrid systems are usually way more simple—fewer parts—and they replace a lot of parts or make them irrelevant (eg. transmissions, alternators, starter motor replaced, and no serpentine belt for accessories—ac runs directly off the hybrid battery). and, if you get a plug-in, then that's an additional option where you can use your vehicle for short trips without ever turning on the engine.

If you clean the filters, hybrid batteries can go 300k easily; plus, the transmission is simpler than even a manual transmission.

Plug-in hybrids even better. Most don’t realize that you don’t have to plug in a plug in hybrid. If you’re on a road trip just put gas in it and it functions as a regular hybrid. But for commuting you can plug it in each night and gas savings are insanely high

More to go wrong with them? I’ve been driving hybrids extensively since 2011 and the most I’ve done on any of them is tires.

You ever notice that some people only care about the environment when it affects the bottom line of oil companies (wind, solar, nuclear, EV vehicles)? *Not that anyone from this shop is guilty of that, but “the environment” is a weird defense against electric vehicles in favor of gasoline vehicles.

in today's world hybrid is kind of silly. should just go with all electric. oh no your battery ran out, instead of having a second battery, we put this internal combustion engine in with a ton of points of failure and hundreds more unique parts to carry the load.

My last two vehicles were an FJ Cruiser with the 4.0 and a Lexus GX with the 4.7, so I have an expectation of long-term reliability. I'm currently in a 2025 Land Cruiser with the 2.4/turbo/hybrid. Fully loaded and armored with 35s and a rooftop tent, I'm still pulling 18 mpg highway, and over 20 mpg if I stay under 60 mph. I'm at about 25,000 miles now. So far, I couldn't be happier with it.

battery misinformation here. MIT recently released a study on emissions from a range of power trains including mining, transportation and maintenance. electric and hybrid cars are much cleaner than gas in every instance

I've been told by a hybrid owner that he regretted his choice because it's a vehicle that doesn't do either well. Just get a vehicle that focuses on one or the other is what he said.
