🚨 CHUBS — RESCUE ONLY • EUTHANASIA DEADLINE 9/15 🚨 That is, if he doesn’t die from sickness in the shelter first. 🔊 PLEASE TURN THE SOUND ON AND WATCH THIS VIDEO. You need to hear how sick Chubs really is. THE NIGHTMARE CHUBS IS LIVING Chubs came in on 8/9 after showing up on a woman’s doorstep in 100+ degree heat — dirty, scared, thirsty, and looking for help. The finder said she threw a flower pot at him because she felt he “lunged” at her. He is only around 30 lbs. If that is what she was willing to admit to, I hate to think about what else may have happened to him that she did not say. At intake, Chubs did well and showed no behavioral issues. On 8/12, a foster came for him but was turned away because a rescue had placed him on hold. That rescue later declined him after Chubs reportedly growled while being viewed through the small kennel where he was isolated. Because of that one growl, Chubs was placed on behavioral hold on 8/18. Then he sat there. For weeks. People emailed. People showed up. People begged. People offered fosters. People even offered to pay for a behaviorist. And still, Chubs remained in the back, isolated, getting sicker and sicker. During that time, a couple of volunteers continued taking him out regularly, and he has been sweet and loving with them and with everyone he has met. I have seen it myself. Finally, on 9/2, a behavioral consultant from another facility evaluated him. He did well. He got glowing remarks. And still, Chubs was made RESCUE ONLY. That means: NO regular adoption. NO regular foster. ONLY A RESCUE CAN PULL HIM. And now he has a 9/15 euthanasia deadline — if he even makes it that long. To make this even worse, CHUBS IS NOT EVEN ON THE WEBSITE. He has been off the website for weeks since being placed on hold. He is housed in the back where the public cannot see him, and now he cannot even be found online. How are people supposed to know he exists? How are rescues supposed to see him and pull him? We already have fosters willing to take him, people willing to fundraise, and people willing to help with placement. WE JUST NEED ONE RESCUE TO SAY YES AND PULL CHUBS. DO NOT CALL. THEY DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. EMAIL DeKalb County Animal Services. SHOW UP IN PERSON. ASK FOR CHUBS. TAG RESCUES. SHARE THIS POST. THIS DOG NEEDS OUT NOW. HIS LIFE SERIOUSLY DEPENDS ON IT. This is not okay. This system is not okay. This dog is suffering, and something needs to change. Speak up. Advocate. Share your voice. Share Chubs. #rescueme #sendhelp #911 #savechubs #animalwelfare
