There is the question of morality. If or when it becomes some kind of sentient being, we really might have to consider giving it some sort of rights. And at that point, you can't just say, "Well, is it a useful tool?" because we're trying to consider it alive, and we don't want to consider alive things as just a tool. If something has capacity for sentience, evaluating it purely on "how useful it is to us" ignores its potential intrinsic value. The Epistemological Problem (The Simulation Barrier): Even if a system produces output indistinguishable from conscious thought, external observers can't directly verify internal experience (the "other minds" problem). Society settling on whether a system is genuinely alive versus executing a high-fidelity simulation is as much a social and political agreement as a technical one.

Exactly. AGI is a label and honestly, it's completely subjective. It's actually contradictive to saying we met AGI because we can't fathom it. People can call it what they want, but denying we are beyond the tipping point is denial. Just my opinion. Your content is extremely informstive.
