the elven partner was probably avallah. i always wondered why did the elves never tried to kidnapped riannon or calanthe or pavetta to use them to open the ard geath but they only started the hunt mission when ciri was Born. i suppose it was because od the prophecy but i highly doubt it that they didnt to kidnapped some of them .

No you are wrong. Sources aren't the ones that conducted the experiment, sources are individuals with potential to use magic and often being dangerous or mentally ill because they aren't trained.
