@tradex_labs: I don’t think you should trade the Opening Range Breakout the same way it was originally designed decades ago. Because the ORB has been researched, tested, and traded to death. And when more people discover and exploit the exact same signal, you can eventually get signal decay… meaning the original edge can weaken over time. But that doesn’t mean the opening range itself becomes useless. Actually, it can make it even more interesting. The opening range is now such a widely watched area, you can make the assumption that there may be a concentration of orders, liquidity, and volume around these levels. So instead of blindly buying when price breaks the range, I want to study how price and volume behave around the range. I’ve coded and tested multiple variations of the ORB to see how we can take an old concept and build a modern, data-driven strategy around it.
