Switch insurance companies! Allstate was doing this to me. I have progressive and a 2024 Q5 and my car is $108 a month but I am married and also have my homeowners insurance and husbands truck through them.

Switch insurance asap! Progressive was great for me for almost 10 years then started pulling the sameeee bs. State Farm is SO much cheaper. And they have the dumb ass drive safe thing you can put in your car for an additional discount on your next policy renewal 😁

Insurance is a scam. I have geico and I think I pay $190. You can always switch! I think you also can say your parents are already insured so you don’t need to add them to your insurance. My fiancé’s insurance tried to force me on his insurance but his car is manual!! I couldn’t drive it even if I wanted to!! 😭

Progressive gets more expensive when you get close to 30. I switched and now it is $100 a month. You should be paying it all at once it will save you money

You’re not wrong, Amanda, other than your potential willingness to stay with Progressive. I’m not an insurance person, so I have no stake in this, but TRUST ME, seek out a local insurance broker. They will give you price comparisons of several big and small carriers—with identical coverage—and they usually can provide discounts you wouldn’t get otherwise bc they operate in volume. Plus, you get a local person who actually cares about you. I will NEVER go back to shopping for insurance online. You won’t get the best deal there and then you have ridiculous experiences like the one you’re having. IF you happened to experience an odd charge increase, you just ask your broker to look into it and they solve it for you. Good luck, girl! But for sure, get outta progressive. They proved loyalty doesn’t matter.

As someone who is married to an auto body technician…. GET NEW INSURANCE. Progressive is the worst at not wanting to pay for new parts if you’re ever in an accident 😭

Licensed property & casualty agent here 🙋‍♀️insurance is a very highly regulated industry. They make you sign for everything so they can prove you consented to your coverages. My company partners with Progressive and they do require all household members listed on the policy. You can exclude them but you do have to sign a form stating such. They also require an EFT signature to show you agree to let them charge your card the agreed amount. Your agent really should have followed up with you for the missing forms. I would highly recommend re-shopping your insurance every renewal. Insurance can be very confusing and frustrating and I'm so sorry this happened! Shop other carriers!! Geico is great - I would run a quote with them!
