@femi__unfiltered: Two alleged sexual assaults in Brampton. One Nigerian man arrested. But there may be a bigger conversation here. Olusegun Onidare has been arrested and is facing serious allegations that should never be minimized. The alleged victims deserve justice, support and protection. But when I looked beyond the arrest, another part of this story stood out: he has reportedly been living without stable housing, and his circumstances raise serious questions about whether he also needs intervention and rehabilitation. Accountability and compassion can exist at the same time. My appeal is especially to Nigerians and community organizations in Ontario: if anyone knows this man or can connect him with appropriate social, housing, legal or rehabilitation services, please do something. Helping someone get proper support does not mean excusing alleged sexual violence. Sometimes protecting the wider community also means intervening before a troubled person deteriorates further. Condemn the alleged crime. Support the alleged victims.
