Lexi ultimately made the tough, but right call. Yes, Damon and Stefan could have mended their bond here, but at the same time their bond could have ended up broken beyond repair. Stefan could have spiralled at any moment and Damon would have been unable to help, just like 1864 when he left, just like 1912 when he chose to let him run off. Damon didn’t really consider Stefan’s current needs and was more focused on desperation to be with his little bro. Lexi was looking at the bigger picture, as she said, it might be good for Damon, but it would destroy Stefan
