Our baritone, bassist, and composer Davey Roush worked with his very talented mama, Robin Kneubuhl on the lyric! She wrote a poem months before Davey and friend/producer/shnakducer par excellence, Jeff Lucci cooked up a noisy instrumental in March 2019. Davey and Jeffie tried the poem out as a lyric, and it fit just right. Several years later, we’re friqq’n ✨finally✨ dropping it for you with a mix courtesy of the inimitably dope Mario McNulty and a master by the masterfully magnificent Kris Crummett ✨❤️‍🔥🎶 Davey’s mama described her poem as "a lament about tragic contradictions in contemporary feminist thought and practice.” The song's heroine embodies both a noteworthy psychoanalytic patient of Freud’s protégé Josef Breuer known by her pseudonym Anna O and the real-life gun-slinging heroine Annie Oakley. Though Anna is beleaguered by these contradictions, she ultimately emerges triumphant in the fight against patriarchy by the song’s end. 💛📝🧡 The music video is our third collaboration with LA-based film producer DJay Brawner. The superbad/cool/insanely talented/kindest-dude-on-Earth-in-real-life Jonathan Thomson kicked every ass possible as the doctor psychopath whom Anna ultimately overthrows. ❤️🎥🖤 Our soprano, the one, good, and venerable Bella Komodromos (@Bella Litsa), plays the role of Anna, who is deeply distressed in captivity, as she seems wrongfully entrapped in an asylum. However, through an act of heroic resistance, she overthrows her abusive doctor and his servile aide.
