I love this take. Reading elitists will shame you for not reading Crime and Punishment but in reality reading manga can be just as transformative.

Nahh he’s tripping. Books objectively can make you smarter 😭. Although I do agree people in the book culture do try to shame certain books, reading definitely improves your intelligence whether it’s fiction, non fiction and etc.

I've heard of an *upsetting* amount of English teachers and professors who tell their students that fantasy cannot be meaningful art. It drives me crazy, because social commentary and meaningful lessons are *abundant* in good fantasy. Anyone who can't see it just lacks media comprehension.

Yeah I’m not gonna lie I used to think I didn’t like to read anymore because I couldn’t find anything interesting to me, then I found the Horus heresy series and I’ve been hooked ever since, so hooked I take notes on it and share those notes on tik tok kinda like a book club and I’m about to be on book 8 in the series lol, you’re definitely right people just need to find that one book or series they like and go from there 100%

Y’all Still don’t have the full context of him, saying “name a book with knowledge” after that, he goes on about how every book everyone put in chat there is other forms to learn that knowledge his example being video essays

I mean it's the same with anything. I've had people say similar things with movie and Citizen Cane. I'm sorry, but you don't need to like that too say you like movies. To a lot of people is boring, okay that's fine. It doesn't break anything.

I think fanfiction is such a great introduction to reading for fun, as well. Cause I’m sure they have a game or show or something that interests them. Trust, AO3 has something for you. And then with the references in the fics, often you’ll find yourself searching for more knowledge. It’s awesome. Reading is for everyone 🫶

My brother hated reading.... until we introduced him to fandom novels in the 90s. 😁 He couldn't get enough of Indiana Jones books. My sister was hooked on Star Trek novels, and I was all about Dragon Lance. I have a library of over 2000 books. I've read novels that are 1500pages. Still can't stand J.D. Salinger.

Ive realized over the last few months I lack “deep thought literacy” I feel dumb as hell for it too. People over here dropping perspectives on MHA and Fate Series like they were classically trained by socrates or something. Meanwhile im blissfully unaware.
