Death by cop, it’s happened many times. They know that the cops will shoot if they present a threat. She didn’t even know what she was doing with that gun & looked scared of it, definitely not someone used to handling one. If her objective was to kill that front desk cop would’ve been the first to go.

Well. I think she was having a mental health crisis or episode and unfortunately the officers really had their hands tied here. She did present a danger to others in this situation and they attempted many times to deescalate. My bigger concern is this: why are guns SO ACCESSIBLE!!!!!!

I’m not saying this woman deserved to die. I’m saying I don’t understand what people expected the officers to do. She walked into a police station with a gun, fired toward an area where employees were working, walked outside still holding the gun, and refused repeated commands to drop it. Then, after being shot and going down, she reached toward the weapon again. Those officers had families and lives they wanted to go home to too. You can’t expect police officers to gamble their lives because someone may be experiencing a mental health crisis. Mental illness can explain someone’s behavior, but it doesn’t make an armed threat less dangerous.
