@dralexis_md: “Heal it naturally” sounds harmless—until someone stops the medication that was protecting their organs. Autoimmune disease doesn’t care how convincing the advice sounded. Evidence matters. Treatment matters. 💥 #AutoimmuneDisease #Rheumatology #Lupus #AutoimmuneAwareness #MedicalMisinformation
Can we please work together. the future is not either or but rather both.

I’ve watched my clients fall into the fear mongering of “functional medicine “ and spend THOUSANDS, to end exactly where you cite, critically ill. I applaud you for this post. I’ve seen this sadly way too many times. “The Root Cause “ hook, based on endless out of pocket testing costs and “theories “.

Keep taking your meds, and modify your lifestyle. That combination will most likely lead you to remission. One doesn’t work without the other.

I fell for it. I was so desperate for relief. I was misdiagnosed & ignored for 30 years. I have hEDS, ME/CFS, POTS, MCAS, intracranial hypertension, migraine, cervical radiculopathy, TMJ, pelvic congestion syndrome, PMDD, CPTSD.

Ask me how many times someone with MD or DO did exactly the same or worse.

I can vouch for this. The only thing that helped my arthritis was western medicine and believe me I tried it all. I have the disease 26 years

Thankful to have a primary care physician who believes in both and that they go hand in hand.

All my problems in auto immune stemmed from an infection in skin and lymph nodes and taking antibiotics and ivermectin is not natural but it makes me feel like me. Does lupus ever feel like you have an infection in your whole body when in general sick and when something hurts it really fucking hurts almost like something is growing there!

it's just difficult because what do we do to get "better" and function like a normal person or our old selves like society expects of us and is needed to pay bills, and work, and not end up homeless or dead or sicker?? I've been struggling for 3 years with mcas and what we believe if dysautonomia but not sure and then I had ibd before all that for years but I wasn't bed bound everyday in my early 20s :( I don't want to do this anymore this isn't living
