Give us a dark creepy vibe that does not lift. The soul to heaven does not encourage union with God. I don’t know why they would do something that dark and eerie vibe.

if you ever get the chance you should visit the Basilica Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary in Covington KY, its a miniature version of Notre Dame just without the bells cause the soil sucks and wouldn't be able to hold the weight of it on the front

Whenever I see beautiful churches like this, I always think of my daughter. When she builds something super cool out of Legos or her little magnet blocks & says “daddy, come see what I’ve made! Do you like it?” & of course I say “it’s wonderful kiddo, do you like it too?”. She ponders for a moment and says “yes, I like it. I worked really hard on it.”. I think it is the same way with God. He sees what we’ve made for him & appreciates our joy and effort. After all, He is a loving Father. I think when we make beautiful things for Him, he’s really proud of us.

I just toured this and spent like an hour and a half inside architecturally it’s stupendous illumination, outstanding an atmosphere outside of the realm of reality. It’s absolutely a must visit.

Hahah the washing machine? Someone said this to me once and I couldn’t unsee it (think of the agitator on one of the old school top load washers). But yes it is absolutely stunning inside and out.

It’s the first cathedral built after the constitution on the sacred liturgy (modern mass, no more Latin), so they wanted to make the architecture modern in the spirit of that decision. At least that’s what our high school taught us.
