@gamesdotgg: Zach Cregger has given more detail on how he approached directing the Resident Evil film and his goal was to make the audience feel like they are actually playing the game. Speaking ahead of the film's September 18 release, Cregger said he wanted viewers to track the protagonist's resources in real time the same way a player would: "You'll know how many bullets are in his gun, you'll care when he misses a shot." The aim is for the audience to stay keenly aware of the character's health at all times, building the kind of tension that comes not from jump scares but from resource management and survival pressure. It is a genuinely unusual approach for a horror film, and one that makes sense given Cregger cited Resident Evil 4 and 7 as his two biggest influences. Whether a mainstream cinema audience responds to that kind of mechanical tension the same way a gamer would is the interesting question. The film hits cinemas September 18. #residentevil #residentevilmovie #re4 #leonkennedy #gamingnews
