So people should understand that because the earth is a sphere there’s no way to project it on a 2 dimensional plane without some kind of distortion. The internet allows us the ability now with dynamic maps but unfortunately on paper you only have 3 options. Mercator, Transverse Mercator and Lambert projections

growing up in US schools, I really thought we were the center of the world. I remember thinking other countries sounded like ancient history and then everyone moved to the US and that’s where the world was. It matters how we tell stories of history and how we teach geography.
