@andrewchanvc: There’s a ton of research that rage inducing content generates engagement and feeds the algorithm but sad internet does too and sitting as a venture capitalist it leads logically to the question what startup or company will fix it? Or can it even be fixed? are we just destined to yearn? but if something is sad it affects watch through and sharing since it is community and that’s what feeds the algo #sad #deadinternet #artificialintelligence
It feels reflective of what I know people in my age range, that I know of, feel (most conversations revolve around all of us feeling down about the world and where we are). As a 41 year old millennial, I can relate to a lot of the feeling of hopelessness in the content I watch. It feels like an endless cycle ending in the question of why even bother any more? I’ve personally chosen to channel that energy into moon shot goals for building a business and off the wall ideas like randomly making peanut based smoker pellets, driven by the fact that I’ve got nothing better to do with my time since everything cost way too much, no one wants to hang out, and there are absolutely no 3rd spaces.

Benji @ Mapchat.social :
Anger content performs way too well. And hey, I know a startup that’s working on aspirationally changing this dynamic. 😉
