@hotandhumblejake: Is the U.S. a part of Latin America? 🌎 We’re the second-largest Spanish-speaking country on Earth, and more than 68 million Latinos call the U.S. home, but that word looks very different depending on the city. I’ve explored lots of Latino neighborhoods, but for this I decided to hone in on Washington Heights “Little DR” and Chicago’s Little Village “The Mexican Mag Mile.” Of course, this is merely a snapshot, not a census. The Latino communities of New York and Chicago both are hugely diverse (and only getting more so!) - whether it be in Mexican Sunset Park or Puerto Rican Humboldt Park, you can travel all of Latin America in most American cities. 🇩🇴🇲🇽🇺🇸 #nyc #chicago #washingtonheights #lavillita #latino

Spanish is not the only Latin language. French, Italian, Portuguese, and Romanian are all Latin languages.

Not to mention that most the western United States was Mexico and that population didn't move. We are still here and we're still Latino.

Yes!!! And not even demographically in a current sense, but also culturally in a historic sense. For example New York and the evolution of salsa. NY/NJ is an extension of Caribbean culture and that invisible thread had shaped Latin American culture

The U.S. can’t be Latin (for geographical reasons) but, it definitely can be considered Hispanic (linguistically speaking)

Lovely. I’m from Texas and it’s always great to see. I think it’s fascinating how people from Latin American countries get to build their own version of home away from home. Sort of feels like countries within a country
