Rabbit Hole was an incredible movie. Travesty she didn’t get her 2nd Oscar for it tbh. It was so real it felt voyeuristic

My dad died when I was 19. I’m 59 and I have thought about him every day for 40 years. I’m not sad all the time just trying to always remember him.

And the day it becomes bearable is horrible realizing that it no longer takes you to your knees and that’s it’s just in you.

I know this is about death. But it resonates so much for someone that has had to cut off their mom while she is still alive. It hurts, it will always hurt, and you grieve the first months as if she died. Then… its a brick you carry, sometimes it hurts, sometimes it makes you proud you chose yourself, and sometimes is just a void.

It never goes away. Grief that is. It’s like a scar etched in your soul that sometimes feels like the wound reopened, fresh, unhealed. You never forget them, you never stop missing them, your heart never lets them go. You carry it, them around with you. Invisible to the eye, only visible to you, your heart, your soul. It’s the beautiful cruelty of loving someone so unconditionally that even after they’re gone, you’ll still feel the loss of their presence in your life. You learn to live with that soul scars.

True, my son died 21 years ago, its always there. Someone told me that grief is the love that has no where to go. You carry the love for them forever.

I watched my son as he left his body and there is no movie and no words to explain how I feel and how broken I will forever be

Grief is love, all the love you have to give with no where to go... the greater the love, the greater the grief.

This is so accurate. One day, it just becomes bearable. Even when it feels like it never will. But it’s always there.

It’s the price for loving someone, but grief like that bring you to your knees, makes you wonder if you can manage the sadness.

Sitting in the back of a police car, telling my nephew, his dad had been involved in a fatal car crash, it's still unbearable.

True. It’s 29 years since my mother died and it’s only just becoming bearable without medication to block the pain. But my pain is also a reminder of how deep my love is for her and how loved I felt when she was alive. So if pain is all I have I want it as a daily reminder of someone I never want to forget….

My mother never got over losing her first born in his 40s. Fundamentally changed her. It never goes away. ❤️
