@tryingnottoforget: Replying to @kimberly19845 I also think I’ve been asking questions over and over #earlyonsetalzheimers #alzheimers #alzheimerscaregiver #dementia #dementiacaregiver
My mom has Alzheimer’s and now when she tells her stories she just makes up stuff and lies because she doesn’t know what really happened now

Have you gotten into dancing at all? My final research paper for graduating nursing school many years ago was about how much ballroom dance improves alzheimer patients, particularly over time. Partially because you're working your brain to remember steps, but the social dynamic does a lot for the brain as well.

Weird question: has your hair always been curly or did that happen recently. Is the top curly too or does it stay straight? I know that seems so strange to ask but I see so many similarities in a family member after watching many of your videos.

Ugh! I do that too! My wife and best friend, who I’m mostly around, are good about it tho! Usually I can just tell to look at them and I’m like, “I already told you that, right?” 🤦🏻♂️😆 I purposely keep my friend circle small for that reason.

My mom is starting to do this and refuses to acknowledge or see a dr for it (she says she’s seen a dr but they say nothings wrong) and the she even said she didn’t recognize me when she visited… and then told my siblings that was a lie that she made up to me, and she’s fine. I don’t even know what to believe anymore. But I do say things like “we’ve already talked about this” bc I get so hurt and frustrated when she wants me to reexplain painful conversations… I’m just starting to think I’m just alone and have to let her go. It’s hard. I can’t tell if it’s malicious or if she’s actually struggling

This must be frustrating. 💜 In your specific circumstance, would you want people to let you know if you’re repeating?

Another caregiver tip…don’t start a question “do you remember when…..” (unlikely that I do) Just say the statement you want to say…

One of my only memories of my great grandmother was my aunt reading Ana article in the paper to her about the number of stilettos Dolly Parton had. This was probably 40+ years ago now. She thought that was an amazing fact and repeated it all night long to all of us. That was the first time my mom explained what was going on to me. Still makes me chuckle- it was a memorable fact 😂

Sounds like, I am about where you are. I was diagnosed a year ago with early onset dementia. They think it’s vascular dementia, because my MRI and my PET scan came out fine. Next, I’m going to do the blood test that they have.

My MIL we moved in a year and half ago because we noticed she was forgetting a lot all the time. Nurse came out thru her insurance they come once a year and she failed the clock test and the words she had to repeat back.That dr refused to do any further testing. We finally got her to switch her primary and I’m going to be bringing up her memory with new dr but she is to the point that if I kindly remind her of an important conversation we had she doesn’t remember it at all as where a few months ago she would say oh ya your right we did and tell me what we talked about when I gave her some info. I’m sorry all this is happening to you xoxo. Side note your skin is glowing today and your curls look phenomenal

I usually say “oh yeah you told me about that!” With some enthusiasm. Then ask them a question about the story so I sound interested, but they know they don’t have to repeat the whole story
