I will agree that data centers only produce a small number of traditional jobs. But I would also argue that building out data center infrastructure should reduce costs and make it easier to build knowledge jobs. Politicians are trying far too hard to hold on to traditional physical jobs, but that ship sailed decades ago when we started offshoring manufacturing jobs to China, India, Mexico, Canada, and other parts of the globe. we have a great opportunity to reshape what our economy is and make it a strong knowledge economy. More data centers means more supply and should reduce costs. Lower costs means more people with an idea should be able to attempt to make it real. This is a scary time of change and we should measure or stride but we can’t keep fear mongering and putting the breaks on innovation. Heck we did that with nuclear power plants, people fear mongered nuclear power and we did not build out the infrastructure we should have. Now we struggling with our traditional power infrastructure and all of consequences of that traditional power.

I'm not trying to say that I'm pro Data center, but I would like to ask you this question. do you want skynet to happen because of an American AI or a Chinese AI?? from what I can tell just by Doom scrolling on tiktok way too much. those seem to be the only options for our future. and just because we stopped making them here does not mean that China's going to stop making them there. it's also a lot easier for China to make them there because they don't have to deal with pesky things like a legal system that's going to stop the government from doing whatever they want whenever they want. some people might say the same thing about the United States government and legal system and honestly..... mostly Fair but at least we pretend that we have to listen to the legal system here. and every once in awhile we actually do. every once in a rare Blue Moon the legal system works like it's supposed to and the big guy is forced to stop shitting on the little guy. they don't have that blockade in China. if the Chinese government says hey, we're taking away all of your farmland that your family has lived on for the past 300 years and there's nothing you can do about it, if you say anything other than "okay sir, let me pack up all my stuff real quick" you're liable to get taken off the senses permanently.

As someone who has wanted to change careers and get an electrician apprenticeship, I fear the bubble of these data center workers will flood the market with blue collar workers once the ai bubble pops
