as someone who works in retail and has social anxiety, it is rude to not at least acknowledge a greeting no matter what form it is. the least you can do is smile and nod at the person.

It’s literally our job and I get yelled at if I’m not asking you. You can be polite and say I am just looking around or anything other than pretending we’re annoying you when u come to our place of work

We’re require to greet customers and the amount of times I’ll be like “hi welcome in!! 😁😁“ and they’ll just stare at me and walk away. They better not ask me for any help finding things!!
