@drj1189: Mounjaro has a new FDA indication—and this one is worth understanding beyond the headline. The FDA has expanded Mounjaro’s indication to include reducing the risk of major adverse cardiovascular events—cardiovascular death, heart attack, or stroke—in adults with type 2 diabetes who are at high cardiovascular risk. This matters because when we treat type 2 diabetes, we’re not just thinking about A1C or the number on the scale. Cardiovascular disease remains one of the biggest concerns for these patients, so medications that can address multiple parts of that risk are clinically important. One important nuance: this does not mean Mounjaro is now a cardiovascular-risk medication for everyone taking it, or that every person with obesity should be prescribed it for heart protection. The new indication applies specifically to adults with type 2 diabetes who are at high risk for cardiovascular events. It’s another example of why these medications have moved well beyond the conversation of simply being “weight-loss drugs.” Talk with your physician about what your individual cardiovascular risk looks like and which treatments make sense for you. For medical education only; not individualized medical advice. #Mounjaro #Tirzepatide #Type2Diabetes #CardiovascularHealth #DiabetesCare
I'm literally off of insulin thanks to Mounjaro. My sugars are always in check and my A1C is great

Inflammation decreased, liver labs normal, A1C is 5, I didn’t lose any weight… but I’ve literally been on every GLP-1 currently on the market for the past 20 years and this is the first one to really do anything for me.

This is great news. But how about people with CKD? They have high odds of cardiovascular disease too. Hope they do trials for them too

Just avoid eating fried fish after an increase in dose if you don’t want vomiting for about 24 hours. I’m seeing a trend in my patients.
