I wasn't going to comment but I don't see my idea so here goes. "Hi! My son has been asking me when he can hang out with your son. Is there a day when we can come over? I'll spring for pizza!" When they see you are genuinely respectful and comfortable in black spaces, it could help to alleviate their completely reasonable anxiety.

I thought I was going to be able to provide an answer when you said parents of black kids. I was like oh, that's me. I'm Hispanic and he is mixed. But I kind of feel like Hispanic and Black folks are raised similarly. We don't trust many people. Just speak to them and over time they'll decide if you're good or naw.
