@meghannmcuniff: A reporter today asked the prosecutor about 11 jurors favoring Lindsay Clancy's acquittal. "D.A. Cruz, you had 11 jurors that didn't necessarily believe your case. What do you say to those people who felt that the whole prosecution was insensitive?" the reporter said. "Was what?" replied Tim Cruz, the elected district attorney in Plymouth County, Massachusetts. "Insensitive," the reporter clarified. "Insensitive? Insensitive is killing three children. Insensitive is ignoring those facts. We have an obligation to stand up for those people and seek justice and make sure the defendant gets justice and make sure they get justice. So if people don't can't understand that, I don't know how I can answer that question," said Cruz, who has been Plymouth County's top prosecutor since November 2001. Another reporter asked, "If you couldn't prove the case to these 11 jurors who apparently did not believe that you proved the case, how will you prove it to others?" "We don't know what they believe and what they didn't believe. Our job is to assess the facts and apply them to the law and make sure that we can come up with what we can do and go forward in a good-faith fashion. And I think that we owe that to the people in our county and our community," Cruz said. Another reporter asked, "There's been a lot of online speculation about the thoroughness of the Massachusetts State Police investigation. Do you have any comment on that? On any of those rumors? Are you here to set anything straight?" "I said they've done a good investigation, and I don't go online and read those stories," Cruz said. "Do you believe it was thorough?" the reporter asked. "You know, I'm not here to dispute anything with the defense. I'm not here to talk about the defense. I'm here to talk about I'm here to talk about what's important in this case and what should be important to all of us, and that's those three kids," he said. "Thanks very much."
