#NSTTV National singles coaching director Kenneth Jonassen has urged his women's singles shuttlers to embrace the "bumpy road" ahead rather than lose confidence following recent defeats on the World Tour.
Here are 6 signs that your baby may come late or that labor is still a little ways off: 1. High Fetal Station (The Baby Hasn't "Dropped")In the weeks leading up to birth, babies typically engage in the pelvis, an event known as "lightening". If your bump is still sitting very high, you can breathe completely normally, and you aren't feeling heavy pelvic pressure, your baby has not dropped into the birth canal yet. This often indicates labor is not imminent. 2. A Long, Thick, and Closed CervixDuring your final prenatal checkups, your doctor or midwife may perform a cervical check. If your cervix is still firm, long, posterior (pointed toward your back), and completely closed, your body is still in the maintenance phase of pregnancy rather than thinning (effacing) or opening (dilating) for birth. 3. Infrequent or Non-Progressive Braxton HicksWhile "false labor" contractions can happen for weeks, they serve to soften the cervix. If you are experiencing irregular, painless, or weak Braxton Hicks contractions that completely disappear when you rest, drink water, or change positions, your body is still just practicing, meaning actual labor could be days or weeks away. 4. No Changes in Vaginal DischargeAs the cervix prepares to dilate, it sheds the thick mucus plug that seals the uterus, which is often accompanied by a pink or blood-tinged discharge called the "bloody show". If your vaginal discharge remains entirely unchanged, clear, or light without any mucus or spotting, your cervix is likely not yet undergoing the changes required for active labor.5. Stable Weight and High EnergyMany women experience a sudden, overwhelming urge to clean and organize (the nesting instinct) or notice their pregnancy weight gain completely levels off or slightly drops a few days before labor begins. If your weight is still steadily fluctuating upward and you still feel your normal third-trimester baseline of energy without a sudden shift, labor may still be a bit further down the road.6. Miscalculated Conceptions Date (The Ghost Extension)Sometimes the most definitive sign of a "late" baby is simply an inaccurate timeline. If you have irregular menstrual cycles or didn't receive an early first-trimester dating ultrasound, your official expected due date might just be mathematically ahead of your baby's actual gestational age. #fyp
