You are setting yourself up for disappointment. Masters degree especially online masters degree are transactional at best. I made sure to get my degree type masters from an accredited respected college.

Most of what you pay for with an MBA is networking and connections...if it was all async online that is worth significantly less. I hope your employer was paying for this!

College professor here. You are definitely not wrong! With asynchronous classes, I will say that professors for most programs do not have any control or autonomy over the content. We have a curriculum specialist that align the class with accreditation requirements, and we have no control over updating or fixing. I hear you about things being out of deep. But this is also where colleges are going wrong thinking they can do fully online programs and essentially pay glorified babysitters to make sure everything is getting in. I genuinely hate it. It is incredibly problematic and I think nothing will change until we get away from some of the regulations. I also understand why that is problematic too. Had a bare minimum yes you should have direct and clear expectations being communicated to you. Not saying this was the excuse or the reasoning for this, but in any asynchronous classes, they increase how many students are in the class because they say that since you’re not teaching live, you should have more time. It is often not the case. Because there is more work grade. I genuinely hate it. But with the way, the world is changing so fast I do not see it decelerating. I am so sorry you felt. I’m prepared and like there was so much you had to do on your own. That is not fair and I really hope administrators wake up soon.

I recently left a master's online program due to the constant changing requirements. It was so unorganized, when I am working a full time job and enrolled in a full-time program I need organization.

I’m a professor. Unfortunately many professors aren’t taught how to teach. Just because you’re a subject expert doesn’t mean you’re good at teaching. I think especially in a course where you don’t see students face to face clear explanations are necessary. Just my personal opinion.

I started my masters and dropped out a semester later because I was actually in the field and seeing the job in real time. When I started the masters I saw how outdated the things that are being taught and actually not relevant at all, especially with how fast the workplace is changing with tech. When I was dropping out, multiple people in the program had meetings with me to talk me out of it and I questioned them why the material being taught is not aligned with what’s actually happening in the field and their explanations were just a word salad

Omg! Yes! The discussion replies, 100%! I got points off because I replied to the minimum amount…what! Also, how are you as an instructor taking points off for my grammatical errors in my paper, but you have grammatical errors in your rubric 😂

She knew it was out of date… she just didn’t care. You are not wrong expecting the prof to teach but also in the world of business this is how it goes. You get what you pay for, many MBAs cost 80k. I went with low budget and accepted the quality I was given

my Master's... was easier than my highschool. I went to a college prep school, where we had to graduate with a college level thesis and an AS degree. I FLIED through my masters.

In my masters for ABA not only is it just repetitive materials with the same big ole terms and out of date practices. The seminars everyone with a camera off, professor is just talking through the PowerPoints that almost feels AI and robotic also my last professor literally dipped on the last two seminars before the final assignment. Discussion board post replies all seem AI generated. Yeah it’s great doing online school while you’re working but man it does suck and make me miss in person 😭

Re: outdated videos: if your program is asynchronous, there’s a chance the program just has stock courses that professors (or sometimes not even profs, but instructional designers) designed at some point and that are being recycled instead of being developed anew each semester. So it could not even be an issue with the professor themself, but the fact that the program/university is making recurring $$ off of a course/materials someone designed in the past.
