Today marks 8 month since my amputation. I have to chip away at watching these videos because they’re tough for me to watch. I actually hate watching them a lot. But when I knew I was amputating I searched for these and couldn’t really find much… so here I am! This was a few short hours after surgery. I hadn’t seen my leg yet, but I could feel all of it. I remember the pain from my foot that wasn’t attached to my body anymore. My heel was so heavy and felt dense in the worst way possible. My toes were completely numb and heavy. It was so much to process. Even now, I find myself being hit with the weight of what happened during random points in my day. I’m super happy with the things I’ve been able to accomplish over the last 7 months, but life will always be different, and I’ll always have things that are harder. With that being said, I would do it all again to be out of the bone crushing, debilitating pain that I was in before. I think this was one of those moments where the reality of my situation really set it.
