After spending the week introducing you to Akitas at Second Chance Akita Rescue who are still waiting for what comes next, I received a comment from someone who works with the rescue and adopted their best friend, Kobe, through them. And those three words really stayed with me: “Our best friend.” ❤️ Because we often hear the beginning and middle of rescue stories — the pound, the kennels, the waiting and the work that happens behind the scenes. Kobe represents what everyone hopes can eventually come next: the right dog finding the right home and becoming part of someone’s life. After meeting Gabby, Tina, Rio and Ghost this week, I hope one day someone gets to describe each of them in exactly the same way.
